# FLIP CHARTS

**Charts** help to analyze and generate trading ideas to make the best investment decision.

### How do I open the chart of a security? <a href="#how-do-i-open-the-chart-of-a-security" id="how-do-i-open-the-chart-of-a-security"></a>

To *open* **Chart** of a security, follow these steps:

* Log in to the **"Flip".**
* You will be on the **"Watchlist"** page.
* Locate and navigate to the **Charts** tab.

* Here, **Nifty 50's** chart will be displayed by default.

* Now to change the security, choose the desired **Watchlist** on the **Side Watchlist Panel.**
* Next, click on the security you wish to see on the **Chart** and that security's chart will be displayed.
* You can also click on the search icon :mag\_right: given right next to the NIFTY 50 and search for a desired symbol.&#x20;
* Click on the desired security from the search results and the chart will be displayed accordingly.&#x20;

### How to open Chart from Watchlist ? <a href="#how-to-open-chart-from-watchlist" id="how-to-open-chart-from-watchlist"></a>

To *open* **Chart** from **Watchlist**, follow these steps:

* Open the desired **"Watchlist" page.**
* Hover the mouse on the security of your choice.
* **"Three Dot" Icon** ![](/files/dhXHaAYV4mlAkYbAZxax) will appear.
* Click on it and pop-up will appear.
* Now, click on **"Chart"** option and you will be redirected to the page.

**Please Note :** Same way you can open chart from Portfolio, Order Book, and Ideas.

### How to open Chart from Security Info page ? <a href="#how-to-open-chart-from-security-info-page" id="how-to-open-chart-from-security-info-page"></a>

To *open* **Chart** from **the Security Info page**, follow these steps:

* Go to the **"Security Info page"** of the desired **Security**.
* Here on the top right-hand side you can find the **"Chart" Icon.**
* Click on the **"Chart" Icon** and you will redirected to the Chart page of that particular security.

### How to change Time Frame ? <a href="#how-to-change-time-frame" id="how-to-change-time-frame"></a>

This feature helps you to switch your chart's time scale, from a monthly view down to one second.

To *change* the **Time Frame**, follow these steps:

* Open the **Chart** of the desired Security.
* By default, **"One Minute"** will be the **Time Frame.**
* Click on **"1 M"** and **Select Box** will appear.
* Here you can choose the desired **Time Frame.**
* When you hover the mouse over the **"Time Frames,"** you can see a **"Star Icon.".** If you click on it, you can favorite that particular **time frame.** Along with that, you can also choose another **time frame.**

**Please Note:** You can favourite more than One Time Frame at a time. Also once you log out the time frame will be back to the default one.

### How to change Chart Type ? <a href="#how-to-change-chart-type" id="how-to-change-chart-type"></a>

You have flexibility to choose the **"Charts"** in various formats and change the Type to suit your preferences. There are wide-range of options available from the Simple **"Bar"** and **"Candlesticks"** to more complicated type such as **"Renko", "Point & Figures",** and even **"Kagi".**

To *change* **Chart Type**, follow these steps:

* Go to the **"Chart" page** of the desired Security.
* Click on the **"Candlesticks" Icon** at the top left-hand side.
* By default, the **"Chart Type"** would be **Candlesticks**.
* Once you click on the **"Candlesticks" Icon** a drop down menu will appear with multiple options.
* Click on the desired option and the **Chart Type** will be changed immediately.

**Please Note:** The Icon for the **Chart Type** will keep changing according to option you select. For example, if you select **"Lines"** the Icon will change to **"Lines" Icon.**

### How to view Multiple Chart ? <a href="#how-to-view-multiple-chart" id="how-to-view-multiple-chart"></a>

This menu will allow you to select the number of **Charts**

To *view* multiple **Charts**, follow these steps:

* Click on the **"Layout" Icon** towards the right-hand side of the page.
* Here you can select the desired **Layout** by clicking on the layout.
* Then click on the **"Save" Button** on the top right-hand side.

* A pop up will appear. There enter a **Name** for your Layout.

* Click **"Cancel" Button** if you do not wish to continue.
* Or Click **"Save" Button** to save the new name.

### Indicators <a href="#indicators" id="indicators"></a>

#### How to open Indicators ? <a href="#how-to-open-indicators" id="how-to-open-indicators"></a>

**"Indicators"** play an important role in **Technical Analysis** and **Trading**. There are a wide range of Indicators available in **Flip.**

To *access* the **Indicators**, follow these steps:

* Open the **"Chart"** page of the desired security.
* Locate and click on the **"Indicator Icon"** <i class="fa-function" style="color:$primary;">:function:</i> at the top left-hand side.

* You will be redirected another tab with a wide range of **"Indicators".**
* Choose and Click on the **"Indicator"** you wish to apply.
* To search for a particular **"Indicator"** tap on the **"Search Bar"** and enter the name or first letter.
* Once you click on the **"Indicator"** it will be applied automatically.

* Click on the **"Close" Icon** to close the page and you will go back to the **"Charts" page**.
* Now you can the **"Charts" page** with the applied **"Indicator".**

**Please Note:** You can add any number of Indicator at once.

#### How to Remove an Indicator ? <a href="#how-to-remove-an-indicator" id="how-to-remove-an-indicator"></a>

To *remove* an **Indicator**, follow these steps:

* Once you have applied an **Indicator**, it becomes visible on the **"Chart".**
* Now to remove a selected **"Indicator",** locate the **"Undo" Icon** on the top left-hand side.

* Next, click on the **"Undo" Icon** and the **"Indicator"** will be promptly removed from the "**Chart" page.**
* If you have added multiple **"Indicator"**, continue clicking the **"Undo" Icon** until the specific indicator you want removed is no longer displayed on the **Chart**.
* The indicator panel offers several options:
  * **Upward arrow** <i class="fa-arrow-up">:arrow-up:</i> – Moves the pane upward
  * **Collapse icon** <i class="fa-arrow-down-arrow-up">:arrow-down-arrow-up:</i> – Collapses the pane
  * **Maximize button** <i class="fa-expand">:expand:</i> – Expands the pane to full view

#### How to Save Indicator Template ? <a href="#how-to-save-indicator-template" id="how-to-save-indicator-template"></a>

To *save* an **Indicator template**, follow these steps:

* First open the **"Chart" page.**
* Add **"Indicators"** of your choice. (You can add one or more Indicators at a time).
* Click on the **'save'** button.&#x20;

* **"Save Indicator Template"** pop-up appears.
* Enter the **"Name"** of your choice for your template.

* If you do not wish to Save the chart, then click on the **"Cancel" Button.**
* However, if you wish to continue click the **"Save" Button.** The template will be saved and you be redirected to the **"Chart" page.**

#### How to open the Saved Indicator Template ? <a href="#how-to-open-the-saved-indicator-template" id="how-to-open-the-saved-indicator-template"></a>

To *open* the **Saved Indicator Templates,** follow these steps:

* Open the desired **"Chart".**
* Locate and click on this ![](/files/dzOPmkFZIzRYUazDbjdy) **Icon** on top left-hand side of the **Chart**.
* Now you can see all your saved indicator templates being listed.&#x20;
* Now click on the **"Name of the Template"** you wish to open.
* The preferred template will be displayed.

### How to Buy/Sell from Chart page ? <a href="#how-to-buy-sell-from-chart-page" id="how-to-buy-sell-from-chart-page"></a>

To *buy/sell* from **Chart page**, follow these steps:

* Open the **Chart page.**
* You can see the **"Green/Red" Button** at the top right-hand side of the tab.
* Click on the **"Buy/Sell" Button** to open the respective **"Order Placement"** page.
* Enter the required data in the **"Order Placement"** page and submit the order.

* Once an order is placed and its status is Pending, it is displayed on the chart. Buy orders appear in blue, while Sell orders appear in red. The indicator is shown at the corresponding price level on the chart.

### How to modify pending order from Chart ?

* The **pending order is displayed on the chart** as an order line.
* You can modify the order using either of the following methods:
  * **Drag the order line** to the desired price level directly on the chart, **or**
  * **Click the Modify button** on the order line.
* The **Modify Order window** opens.

* Make the required changes (price, quantity, etc.).
* Click **Modify** to save the changes.

> **Modify and Cancel options are not available for Bracket Orders (BO).**

### **How to cancel an order from Charts ?**

* Open the **Chart** page of the required security.
* If there are any pending orders for the selected security, they will be displayed on the chart:
  * **Buy orders** are shown in **blue**.
  * **Sell orders** are shown in **red**.
* Locate the **Close (✕) icon** on the right side of the Buy/Sell indicator and click on it.

* The **Cancel Order confirmation** screen will appear.

* Click **Cancel** to proceed with order cancellation.

### How to draw and customize lines in charts ?

The charting module provides drawing tools that allow users to add and modify lines on price charts for visual reference.

#### Drawing a line

1. Open the required chart from the **Charts** section.
2. From the **Drawing Tools** panel on the left side of the chart, select a line tool (for example, Trend Line).
3. Click on the chart to set the **starting point**.
4. Click again to set the **ending point**.
5. The line is drawn between the selected points.

#### Selecting and adjusting a line

* Click on the line to select it.
* Once selected:
  * Drag the line to reposition it.
  * Drag either end point to adjust the line’s angle or length.

#### Viewing line details

When a line is selected or hovered over, an information box may display:

* Price difference between the two points
* Percentage change
* Time duration between the selected points

These values are auto‑calculated based on the selected points on the chart.

#### Customising line properties

After selecting a line, the line settings options are displayed.

You can modify:

* **Colour** of the line
* **Line style** (solid, dashed, dotted)
* **Thickness**
* **Opacity**

#### Extending a line

Lines can be extended beyond the selected points by enabling:

* Extend left
* Extend right
* Extend both sides

#### Locking and deleting lines

* **Lock**: Prevents accidental movement or editing of the line.
* **Delete**: Removes the selected line from the chart.

Multiple lines can be drawn and managed independently on the same chart.

#### Note

* Drawing tools are for **visual reference only**.
* They do not place or modify orders.
* Drawings remain on the chart until manually removed.

#### Left Panel Tools – How to Use ?

The left-side panel contains drawing and analysis tools that help you mark, measure, and study the chart visually. As you move the cursor over each icon, it highlights — indicating the tool you can select.

1\. **Cursor / Pointer Tool** ( Default selection tool) -Used to move around the chart and select objects

2\. **Crosshair Tool** - Shows exact price and time at any point on the chart. Helpful for checking precise values.

3\. **Trend Line Tool** - To draw a line between two points. Helps identify uptrend or downtrend. Commonly used to track price direction.

4\. **Horizontal Line** - Draws a straight line across the chart. Used to mark support or resistance levels

5\. **Vertical Line** - Marks a specific point in time. Useful for tracking events (like news or price changes).

6\. **Parallel Channel / Shapes** - Create channels or patterns around price movement. Helps visualize price ranges and patterns.

7\. **Free Drawing / Brush Tool** - Use this to draw freely on the chart. Useful for rough markings or highlighting areas.

8\. **Text / Annotation Tool** - Add notes directly on the chart

9\. **Measurement Tool (Ruler)** - Measures price difference and time duration between two point.  Helps understand movement size.

10\. **Icons / Markers** - Add symbols (like arrows, emojis, flags) . Useful for quick visual marking.

11\. **Eraser / Delete Tool** - Remove drawings or clear the chart. Keeps the chart clean.

### How to Compare Charts of Various Securities (Multiple Symbols in Chart) ?

The Multiple Symbols in Chart feature in Flip allows users to compare the performance of different securities within a single chart. Users can add multiple instruments, customize their appearance, and analyze trends visually.

* Go to the Charts page in Flip.
* Click on the **“+ Add” button** (near the symbol/search area).
* Search for the desired securities using the **symbol name** (e.g., INFY, TCS, WIPRO).

* Click on the **symbol name** to add it to the chart.
* Selected securities will be marked with a tick mark under the section 'Added Symbols'.

* If you want to remove the selected security, click on the tick mark again to remove the scrip.&#x20;
* After selecting all required securities, click on the Close (X) button.
* The charts of the selected securities will now appear together in the chart area for comparison.

#### Chart Visualization

* Each security is displayed as a **separate colored line** on the chart.
* Symbols and their respective values are shown on the **right side axis**.
* This enables easy **comparison of price movement and trends**.

#### Customize Chart Appearance

To modify how each symbol is displayed:

* Hover over the Symbol name so that the options panel displays.&#x20;
* Click on the **settings icon** <img src="/files/4VWA1weX0WpmqrEXlfOH" alt="" data-size="line"> given next to the symbol name.&#x20;

* Use **Style** settings to :&#x20;

  * Change chart type (e.g., Line)
  * Select **Price Source** (e.g., Close)
  * Modify **line color and thickness**
  * Enable/disable **price line**

* Switch to the **Visibility tab** to choose the time intervals for which the symbol should be visible.

* Once you have done the customization, you can click on the **'Defaults'** icon to either save this format or reset to the default design.&#x20;
* If you need to proceed with the customization, click **OK** to save and apply the settings.
